Karen Ellsbury, born in Durango Colorado, and raised along the Animas river in New Mexico, has always been inspired by nature, music, and a love of life to create fine art.
An optimistic soul, Karen expresses herself vividly and dramatically with both representational and abstract paintings, and assemblage art ranging from the quirky to the elegant. Mixed media, acrylic and latex are her mediums of choice.
In her more than 30 years of painting Karen has participated in many juried shows, group and one woman shows and has won a few awards. She is co-owner of Studio 116 - Karen Ellsbury Art Gallery in Farmington, NM. A self taught artist, she has grown and changed throughout the years and still continues to experiment without the constraints of rules, but with an innate sense of form and color.
