Karen Ellsbury was born in Durango, Colorado and raised in northern New Mexico. She spent her days as a child exploring along the beautiful Colorado /New Mexico border on her family’s ranch. The property sat along the banks of the Animas River, nestled between radiant canyon walls. This was a place of beauty that still inspires Karen’s work today. Hailing from a very artistic family, Karen began painting at a young age. Later into her painting career, she came into her own and began her journey of acrylic on canvas abstract painting. Karen has defined herself as an artist throughout the southwest, showing her work from southern Colorado through Santa Fe and southern California. She has successfully created a dedicated following of clientele.
“Abstract colors in motion” has been used to describe her unique style of painting. Flowing colors that seem to have no beginning or end, leave the viewer an opportunity to make up their own mind as to the purpose of the work.
Karen paints full time from her home in the four corners area of New Mexico and has won several awards including the 2004 Northwest New Mexico Arts Council Choice Award. |
